I'll master English!

I improved my English. Especially, my reading skills improved well. I can read English newspapers smoothly.

But my listening skills are inadequate. I need to learn listening more. I think I have to learn pronunciation and listen to natural English like TV programs and movie. I'll do shadowing everyday. I'll practice English more and more.

I knew it was coming

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told a news conference that it was his duty to continue as premier and push forward his reform agenda.

I was really disappointed to hear the news. I think we have a serious shortage of manpower in political world. I wonder Japanese politics will be thrown into troubled scene.

Upper House election in Japan

The Upper House election in Japan were held today.

I went to the polls early in the morning. There were a lot of people from early morning. This election seemed to be of particularly interest to the public.

I voted for Democratic Party of Japan. I hope the ruling party will change. I think Japan has to change into the state of two-party system. I want that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will step down at least.

A challenge

It's finally looking like summer. It is hot and humid everyday.

I haven't put the air conditioner on in my room this summer yet. I will not use the air conditioner in my room this year as far as possible. It is a challenge.

Let's go to the library or cafes where are coll places. Am I strange?

The rainy season ends in Nagoya

The Japan Meteorological Agency announces the end of the rainy season in Nagoya.

It was really hot today. I went to the library this afternoon. It is near my house. It has not foreign books but The Daily Yomiuri. And the air conditioner works well. I'll go to there with paperbacks everyday. Because I can read English books and newspapers in a comfortable environment for free.

Japanese rice is too expensive?

Sales of Japanese rice began in Beijing and Shanghai on Thursday, targeting mainly wealthy consumers in China, the world's biggest rice consumer. According to the report, the price of the Japanese rice is more than 20 times that of Chinese rice. Japanese officials hold hopes that "tasty" and "safe" Japanese rice will be well received, mainly by wealthy consumers.

I hope that it will work out fine. I was surprised at the difference in the price of the rice between Japan and China.

Sleep too much?

Maybe I sleep too much on days off.

When my sorting job is off, I always drink two cans of beer at dinner and go to bed early. I am going to get up early in the morning and do my works. But I always sleep too much.

What shall I do?

I think I don't mind about that. I have a lot of things I want to do. I just go forward to my dreams. I'll do my best at the time.

The world affairs is changing

A presidential election will take place in the U. S. next year. Candidates is not yet decided. Anyway, the new President will be chosen next year.

The moves of China after Beijing Olympics also receive international attention.

I think the world affairs will change too.

Have you read Harry Potter?

I found "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" by chance at a bookstore yesterday. It was covered with vinyl. So I couldn't browse it.

I haven't read its series yet. I want to read it before the Japanese version is published. But I'll read Agatha Christie first.

I hope to be a world bestseller author like J. K. Rowling one day. I should read a lot of books and write this blog more.

I bought a book about the fulfillment of one's dream based on brain science. According it, time flows from future to present to past.

That is illuminating for me. I can't explain it well. But I really understand it.

I'll study the book more and use its idea.

Lack seriousness about life

I think many people lack seriousness about their life.

People always moan and groan. But they didn't things for real, did they?

I have also lacked seriousness about my life. I must take things really seriously. I will become serious about my life to make my dreams come true.

I couldn't live without the Internet

NHK plans to offer previously aired television programs on the Internet possibly from fiscal 2008, becoming the first Japanese TV company to do so, sources said Wednesday.

It is welcome news to me. Usually I don't watch TV. But if I can watch TV programs on the net, it makes my life more convenient. The BBC is expected to start a similar service on July 27.

Everything's getting more convenient. I couldn't live without a PC and the Internet. There are many chances. I'll take them. Let' roll up my sleeves and get to work.

Aichi Prefectural Library

I went to Aichi Prefectural Library this afternoon. Because it has foreign books and I want to check out what is there.

I want to read a lot of English books. But I have to save on costs. So it is a good idea that I borrow English books and read them.

There are also three newspapers and many magazines. If I stay there all day, I can enjoy reading very much. I'll use the library regularly.

The second year from today

I made it! I've written this blog for one year.

I think I did a good job. Although I have a three-month break, I've continued posting it every day after that.

I hope to improving my writing skills and entertain you.

Quake comes after typhoon

A powerful earthquake jolted Niigata prefecture and surrounding areas in Japan Monday morning, killing at least eight people, injuring more than 900 others and destroying 500 houses.

My town Nagoya also shook a little during the quake. But I wasn't aware of it. I can live as usual. I am so happy. Thank God!

Typhoon has come

A strong typhoon hit Japan. It passed my town in the early morning. So it had no affect on my life. But I wasn't motivated to do anything today. I should try to be more positive.

I'll be able to master English

I have tried to learn English for many times in my life. But I never succeeded in it.

I've learned again by the method of Extensive Reading since February 9, 2006. It is a huge success! I think this method suits me.

I hope to master English language at the earliest possible date.

Powerful typhoon hits southern Japan

A powerful typhoon pounded Japan's southern Okinawa island chain Friday.

According to the weather report, it will be caught in a rainstorm on Sunday in Nagoya. I will keep quiet on that day.

Upper house campaign to officially begin in Japan

The official campaign for the July 29 House of Councillors election kicked off today.

It is the first major Diet election since Prime Minister Shinzo Abe took office in September last year. Key issues are the government's loss of pension premium payment records and the transparency of political funds.

I think Abe is wrong for Prime Minister. But who is right for PM. That's the problem of the Japanese peoples.

Ichiro hit the first inside-the-park homer in MLB's All-Star Game

Ichiro Suzuki had the first inside-the-park home run in Major League Baseball's All-Star Game history on Tuesday. And his 3-for-3 performance clinched the Most Valuable Player Award.

The Seattle Mariners outfielder hit two singles and two-run shot at his seventh All-Star Game. He became the only Japanese to win the MVP award in a 5-4 victory for the American League at AT&T Park in San Francisco.

He did it! He is really fantastic. I'm very proud of him as Japanese.

Let's save money for going to Hiromi's show

I watched my favorite singer Hiromi Iwasaki on NHK TV program. She is really fantastic. I hope to go her show and dinner with my parents at the end of the year. I have to save money for it.

The newspaper issued 110 years ago

I went to Maruzen, a book shop, and bought a book for learning of English, Traditional Comic Stories from Japan, published by The Japan Times.

The Japan Times is the 110th anniversary this year. And it has special campaign. So I received a gift.

It is the first issue of The Japan Times reprinted edition. The Japan Times was first launched on Monday, March 22, 1897. The first issue had six pages and there was a lot of advertising on the paper. It was quite different from present paper. I think newspaper has been really improving.

I'll enjoy reading The Japan Times more. I hope to read it easily like Japanese one.

Japan's home run king Oh

I read an interesting article in the Los Angeles Times on the Internet. It was an interview with Sadaharu Oh, one of the greatest baseball player in Japan.

I had watched his home run many times. He was really fantastic. I think he is a home run king and a gentleman.

I want to be a man who will be interviewed by the Los Angeles Times one day.

Sato defend the Kisei title successfully

Yasumitsu Sato defeated Akira Watanabe in the 78th Kisei Shogi championship final on Friday.

I'm glad Sato defended his title for the 6th year in a row. I like Sato because his game is really interesting. I hope he will win the title from Yoshiharu Habu this year.

It has been almost one year

I've written this blog since July 17, 2006. It has been almost one year. I feel like I'm improving. I wonder I'll pick the topic of my blog and post it. At any rate, I want to write it more.

Sharapova out from Wimbledon

Maria Sharapova was defeated 1-6, 3-6 by Venus Williams in the fourth round at Wimbledon on Wednesday.

I was so disappointed. I was planning to watch the final on TV. She has a chronic shoulder problem with her serving arm. I hope she recover from her injury as soon as possible.

Good old cartoon

I've read a Japanese famous four-frame comic strip, Ijiwaru basan (Granny Mischief). I watched its TV dramas when I was a child. It is really funny. And its colloquial expression is of some help to me.

If you don't do the things you want to do now, it will never be done

I have things I want to do now and future. I want to make them.

What shall I do?

I do things that I can do now, right now. It is very important that I take the first step.

Just do it now. So my dreams will come true.

In the end I'll succeed. Just see if I don't!

Japanese veteran Sugiyama out

Maria Sharapova defeated Ai Sugiyama in the third round at Wimbledon on Saturday.

I expected an exciting game. But Sharapova won the match in an hour and four minutes. I hope that Sugiyama will win the title of Ladies' Doubles.

Mend the broken screen

I noticed that a window screen in my room was torn yesterday evening. I replaced the screen today. I did it for the first time. It was more difficult than I thought. It was a good experience.
